The pest control industry is a Federal, State, and Local government controlled industry requiring licensing and training through the state and state controlled entities.
Here in Texas the Texas Department of Agriculture (Structural Pest Control Service) establishes the licensing and training requirements for all pest control business, Certified Applicators, Technicians and Apprentices.
All pest control businesses will have a state business license issued by TDA Structural Pest Control Service. Each Certified Applicator, Technician and Apprentice will also have issued their own personal license. In order to obtain a license each individual must pass a state and background checks and rigorous training in classroom, book studies, and on-the-job.
Each individual must take and pass the states regulatory examinations to obtain each level and category of pest control licensing they intend to work in. In addition to the above requirements the TDA-SPCS requires continued education that must be completed each year in order to maintain an individual licensing.
